MTT106 Spectrogram

  1. Andreas Tilliander / Folded Lines 00:00
  2. T++ / Aquatic 01:10
  3. Sustainer / Monocromo_B 05:42
  4. Brother Blue / Automatic Writing (Version) 09:09
  5. DRXT / Untitled [Dub Techno 180427 4] 12:18
  6. Convextion / Untitled [MATRIX1 A1] 15:42
  7. Monolake / Invisible 21:01
  8. Hadamard / Currents (Arctic) 24:12
  9. Ectomorph / Subversion (Dub) 28:50
  10. Morphology / Dark Flow 31:39
  11. Novamen / Dreaming Of 35:34
  12. Ghostek / Night & Low Light 38:51
  13. Hajimari / Diminished 42:13
  14. Pangaea / Router 44:37
  15. Scuba / Negative 49:06
  16. Hajimari / Finally Free 54:13
  17. Manu Shrine / Sediment 56:36

This is a mix in three segments. T++ (AKA Torsten Pröfrock)'s track Aquatic starts things off with a rainy mood; that's my favorite from the first 20 minutes. Hadamard's Currents (Arctic) is my pick from the second segment, from his relatively recent Flux EP. From the last six tracks, I'll highlight Scuba's Negative for its clear dub-techno sound.

I enjoy UK garage (2-step, and the styles it has influenced), but my knowledge and selection is limited. The Burial-like strain of future garage is particularly cool, represented here by Ghostek, Hajimari, and Manu Shrine. I'm glad to have run back about 20 minutes of it this week.

This one's pretty good. Good enough, anyway. Shoutout and thanks to DRXT for the sweet dub techno track; see you down at the arcade soon, friend.

And to close the night, Megaphysics played one more track:

MTT103 Spectrogram

Electro this week; working through some tracks I've been meaning to play.

Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Anthony Rother / Datenbits 00:00
  2. The Advent / Space Time = C 01:25
  3. Dynarec / First Machines 04:37
  4. Das Muster / Horizontale Drehung 07:10
  5. Tactical Systems / Paradigm (Sense) 09:17
  6. Luke Eargoggle / Worship Services 12:07
  7. D.I.E. / Space Travel 16:29
  8. Elecktroids / Midnight Drive 19:39
  9. VCS2600 / Ion Teleportation 24:27
  10. Dynarec / Out Of Bounds 27:09
  11. Steve Allman / Evolution Technology 30:07
  12. Slaves Of Sinus / Opposite of the Past 34:34
  13. Jostronamer / Cairo 37:49
  14. Scape One / Regression Analysis 41:32
  15. Stingray313 / Detroit Science Center 44:52
  16. Morphology / Journey's End 49:11
  17. Gosub / Mind Travel Method 53:37
  18. The Other People Place / Moonlight Rendezvous 58:10

A few tracks by Kurt Baggaley (Scape One, Tactical Systems), a few by Dynarec, a couple of bits from Bass Agenda's Various Objekts compilations. Dynarec's Out Of Bounds in particular is a favorite of mine, from their excellent LP Overland Travelling on Nature Records. Found that one in a used bin at Anthem ~10 years ago.

This mix was thrown together as a reason to play Gosub's Mind Travel Method, a track I've been holding on to for a while. It doesn't quite work - the pacing is off a bit - but that's OK. Was a good way to spend an hour.

MTT No. 102 / You Can't See Us

MTT102 Spectrogram

Detroit (and Dutch, and Australian...) electro this week. Fast and loose.

Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Ectomorph / IT01 Loop 3 00:00
  2. Agent Patrick & ShapeShiftr / Night Vision 01:07
  3. Andrew Red Hand / 8000 KM To Go 05:25
  4. D.I.E. / Programming 07:28
  5. Keith Tucker / (Techno) It's On My Mind 10:25
  6. Uni / Latch 15:05
  7. Drox / 2.2.1 16:38
  8. DJ Godfather / Under The Abyss 18:29
  9. Cosmic Force / Masterblaster 21:00
  10. Ectomorph / Parallax View 24:14
  11. Venechor / Dim 8's Two 28:02
  12. The Advent / Let Us Take You 30:42
  13. Silicon & Lowsh / Untitled [V-989 B2] 34:58
  14. Digitek / Malfunction 37:55
  15. UR / Subsonic Shadow 39:58
  16. Electric Soul / X² (Vocal Mix) 42:22
  17. Ectomorph / Breakthrough 45:58
  18. Aux 88 / Interstellar Funk 47:45
  19. Perception / Mirage 51:55
  20. Shake / Freeform 56:20
  21. Stingray313 / Sphere Of Influence 57:40

This selection is similar to what I played back in MTT 055. A few tracks from Southern Outpost, a couple from Clone's The Men You'll Never See comp, one from The Advent's label Kombination Research, and then a whole stack of Detroit vinyl.

Dim 8's Two by Venechor (AKA Laura Grabb) has been a secret weapon of mine for a long time. Grabb has a bandcamp page full of proper hardcore techno, but those two Venechor tracks are my favorite. My copy is from the used techno bins at 360 Vinyl, and looks like it's been kicked around a bit.

Levels are pretty uneven during this show, and the whole thing is sloppy. But I managed to play Mirage and had a good time; that's enough for me.

Logical Aggression @ Ground Kontrol / January 2019

Posted 2019-01-31. Permalink. Tagged electro, ground kontrol, house, idm, logical aggression, music, synthpop, techno.

MTT099 Spectrogram

Electro, house and techno this week. Leaning on tracks that are easier to follow - kicks on 1 and 3, similar to MTT093.

Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. =UHU= / This Is Revolution 00:00
  2. Sbles3plex / Volem Plastics 02:54
  3. Elecktroids / Algorithm 07:12
  4. NRSB-11 / Market Forces 10:19
  5. DMX Krew / Heisenberg 14:13
  6. MNLTH / Flektro 17:28
  7. Krell / Level 2 20:09
  8. Orgue Electronique / Near The Threshold 22:23
  9. Omar-S / Miss You 25:47
  10. Marco Bernardi / The Burning Love Ensemble 28:47
  11. Raiders Of The Lost Arp / Module Detach 32:08
  12. Datassette / Musique Gélatineuse 35:08
  13. Kovyazin D & Moralez / The Night Watch 38:46
  14. Solitary Dancer / Birth Of Saturn 42:31
  15. Datassette / Mannequin On The Run 46:19
  16. NRSB-11 / 685-471 1 50:37
  17. Danny Scrilla / Eclipse 55:11
  18. Danny Scrilla / Ancient Musical Box 58:16

I picked up Datassette's Mannequin On The Run EP a couple days ago and threw this set together as a way to play a few tracks from it. Those Datassette tracks are definitely the highlight this week. That and the two NRSB-11 tracks. And Elecktroids' Algorithm, Sbles3plex' Volem Plastics, Solitary Dancer's Birth Of Saturn... better stop before I repeat the entire tracklist.

Volume levels are a bit uneven, and some of the mixing is wonky, but I'm happy. This is a good episode 99.

MTT098 Spectrogram

A little old Rephlex and Warp this week, plus some breaks, electro, and IDM to fill out the show.

Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Rising Sun / Ocean View 00:00
  2. Lone Shark / Float 6.3 01:58
  3. Plaid / Yak 06:21
  4. Metamatics / Man-q-Neons 10:22
  5. SCSI-9 / Silkworm 16:33
  6. Atypic / Jolly 20:10
  7. Reedale Rise / Eisrous 22:54
  8. Higher Intelligence Agency / Pinkgreen 26:42
  9. B12 / Bio Dimension 32:46
  10. LFO / Freeze 36:42
  11. Future Sound Of London / Omnipresence 39:47
  12. Caustic Window / Squidge In The Fridge 44:31
  13. Lastrapink / CHCINO 47:35
  14. D'Arcangelo / Sundart 50:47
  15. Creta Kano / Skyway Motel 53:51
  16. Speedy J / The FUN Equations 56:11

Every December I listen to Plaid's Android EP, Metamatics' Mind Mushing Git, and the Traffic II compilation on Combination Records. Those three albums inspired this selection... lots of old Rephlex and Warp, as I said above.

This was thrown together pretty quickly, a couple hours before broadcast. It works well enough, I think. The Sundart to Skyway Motel to FUN Equations run is particularly cool. I've played the slower (81 BPM?) version of Skyway Motel before, during MTT083. I wish I had timed the ending of this show better, though.

MTT097 Spectrogram

Fast-ish noisy electro and IDM this week. Lots of zaps and zooms, delay and reverb.

Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Azmotronik / Last One In For Breakfast 00:00
  2. Cultek / Construct 03:20
  3. Señor Frio / Barda 07:42
  4. 214 / Vocal Calisthenics 12:19
  5. Chromatix / Assembler 16:31
  6. Noyeahno / Outsiders 19:34
  7. Bitstream / Incubator 23:32
  8. Señor Frio / Hatjail 26:56
  9. Monolake / CCTV 31:15
  10. Bass Kittens / MFS_Root (Volum Remix) 35:17
  11. Nomadic / Alpha Phix (Andrea Parker Remix) 40:36
  12. Hydraulix / Xero - 1 (214's Binary Pop N Lock Mix) 43:21
  13. Volsoc / Try To Save Your Song (OK Robot) 48:00
  14. Snog / Real Estate Man (Sir Real's Persuasive Techniques Remix) 53:10
  15. Funkstörung / Oszillator 57:45

This mix features two tracks each from the labels Buried In Time, Digital Distortions, [k]racktroni[k], and Touchin' Bass. All great labels. Kracktronik and Touchin' Bass were favorites of mine in the 2000s. Buried In Time is a local Portland (OR) label releasing glitchy IDM music, challenging stuff.

The Hydraulix track included in this hour is a bonus remix available at their old blogspot site. The original track, Xero - 1, is from the 4 Pumps / 2 Dumps EP on Touchin' Bass. That's a fantastic EP, definitely worth seeking out.

First show of 2019! I could've mixed faster and worked in more music, but decided to take it easy. Was probably for the best. Good tunes in any case.
