  20. The Martian / Ultraviolet Images 53:15
  21. Die Sterne / Ansiedad (Vocal) 57:38

A lot of Direct Beat, Puzzlebox Records, Twilight 76, and Underground Resistance.

I'm not an expert on this style. I have at most 50 releases to pull tracks from, mostly reissues or used bin finds. I'm missing some fairly significant records. But I've got enough to fill an hour (and change), so here you go.

Not every artist included is from Detroit. The Sentinel, Andrew Red Hand, and Die Sterne (AKA G13ck) are all from outside the USA. They do an excellent job of working and innovating in the Detroit style. I'm very happy to include them here, and I strongly recommend their releases. Southern Outpost, The Sentinel's label, is particularly good.

I need to remember the next time I play 808° that there's a rude edit that throws the timing off.

The labels most frequently played in this hour are Brokntoys, Crobot Muzik, and Transient Force.

Not too much to say. I'll highlight one release this week: Futurist Systems, a compilation of Kurt Baggaley's Dr. Futurist and Tactical Systems releases. It's a lot of music - over 100 tracks. Worth going through if you're a fan of Baggaley's electro.

I still haven't written an introductory vocal spiel. Haven't even taken notes.

MTT No. 052 / One Half Lux

anonradio, electro, movement through thought, music, radio // 2018-02-23

MTT052 Spectrogram

An hour of selections from Elektrolux & Mikrolux. (AKA Elektrolux, Mikrolux Re-Mixxed).

  4. MAS 2008 / Outpost Omega To Houston

  13. Ornament A / Zeitmenschen
  14. üNN / Sensor King
  15. MAS 2008 / Mindprogramming
  16. Quantum Leap / Watch This Stone

All 16 tracks here are from the record label Elektrolux or its sublabel Mikrolux. Half this mix is pulled from the Elektro Codes. Two and Elektro Codes.Three compilation CDs.

Most of this mix is a rehash (or ripoff, if you prefer) of DJ Xed's mix "Elektrolux & Mikrolux Mixxed". Specifically from track 5 New Frontiers (Audiowerk Remix) through to track 11 Species 8472 A. I found DJ Xed's mix on the electroalliance.net forums sometime in the mid 2000s; probably '04 or '05. It absolutely destroyed me. I love so many of these songs - New Frontiers (Audiowerk Remix), Reality, Plateau, Mindprogramming, Penalty Dream Pt. 1, on and on. There's a lot of excellent music on these two labels that didn't make it into this mix.

I thought Xed's original mix was completely unavailable, but fortunately the kind person in charge of setlist9.webnode.sk has uploaded it to MEGA. If you'd like to hear Xed's original mix that inspired this hour, you can find it by searching for "DJ Xed" at setlist9.webnode.sk/download/.

MTT No. 051 / Playing Cool

anonradio, electro, movement through thought, music, radio, techno // 2018-02-16

MTT051 Spectrogram

A bit of techno, a bit of electro. Some lazy mixing.
Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Model 500 / Milky Way
  2. AS1 / Coming For You
  3. E.R.P. / Gleaning Creation
  4. Drexciya / Aquatic Bata Particles
  5. Komarken Electronics / Bubble Theory
  6. Scape One / Distinct Century
  7. DJ Stingray / NKKK4_2
  8. Model 500 / Mind Changes
  9. Dan White / Bunjil
  10. Legowelt / Forest Conditioner
  11. Mikron / Re-Entry
  12. Komarken Electronics / Early Mornings (Delta Funktionen Remix)
  13. Kovyazin D & Moralez / Black Moon
  14. DMX Krew / Street Boys
  15. Scape One / End Credits

I don't have a whole lot to say about this week's show. Five tracks from the Brokntoys label made it in, which is cool. There's a bunch of four-on-the-floor music on Brokntoys that I still haven't figured out how to play, so I might do another show like this in the future.

I would like to highlight one release, and that's Legowelt's The Teac Life. It was released (for free) in 2011 on Legowelt's website; that's when I first heard it. He's since made it re-released it (again, for free) on bandcamp. I highly recommend it. It's a great techno album for commutes. Very dreamy. I'm definitely going to be playing more of it this spring.

MTT No. 050 / Nu Groove

  14. Silicon Scally / Encapsulate
  15. Silicon Scally / Interflection
  16. Mariel Ito / Dream Deception
  17. Mariel Ito / Satisfied Death

Some of the noisier 2000s / 2010s electro. Featuring the labels Touchin' Bass and Digital Distortions, with a couple of tracks from Detroit Underground and Spacebar Sentiments thrown in.

Shoutout to the the Buried In Time crew: Ben Milstein, Bot23, Ignatius, and fellow Ground Kontrol DJ Proqxis. Only one proper Buried In Time track made it in here, but hopefully the thought counts.

I don't think I did these tunes justice in this mix. I'll figure them out someday, with more practice.

MTT No. 048 / Sonic Team

anonradio, breaks, electro, movement through thought, music, radio // 2018-01-26

MTT048 Spectrogram

Mid 2000s electro. Frustrated Funk, SCSI-AV, and a whole lot of Satamile Records NYC. Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Silicon / Sonic Distress
  2. EMS / Crack In The Sun
  3. Bytecon / Evacuation Order
  4. Boris Divider / Robot Skin
  5. Heuristic Audio / Death Of A Star
  6. Sonar Base / Before The Storm
  7. Streetdegree / Stellate
  8. Silicon Scally / Borexino
  9. Umwelt / P.O.W.
  10. Freezie Freekie / Promise Of Technology
  11. Metroneem / Blue Screen
  12. Metroneem / Gone To Ground
  13. Sonar Base / Processing Plant
  14. Silicon Scally / Dark Matter
  15. Heuristic Audio / Wisla
  16. Silicon / Sonic Rescue

The tracks by Bytecon, Boris Divider, EMS, Freezie Freekie, Heuristic Audio, Metroneem, Silicon Scally, and Umwelt are all from records released by Satamile Records NYC. I have quite a bit of Satamile on vinyl because it was a US label and had good distribution - I could walk into a record shop in Portland and purchase their releases. Death Of A Star by Heuristic Audio is a particularly good release, and might be my favorite of the Satamile catalog. (Looking at the bandcamp release now, the tracks are mislabeled there. Which is pretty funny).

The two Sonar Base tracks are both from Transmissions From Beyond Hoag's Object (Episode II) on SCSI-AV. It's an absolutely amazing mini-album. The vinyl has gotten expensive on discogs, so I hope Sonar Base or SCSI-AV can make it available digitally sometime soon.

The first and last tracks are Silicon AKA Heath Brunner, from two different releases on Frustrated Funk. I like to imagine Sonic Team as the protagonists of a pulp sci-fi series. I might have picked some of the tracks here specifically for their titles. (The adventures of Sonic Team: dying stars, alien robots, imprisonment and escape, etc.).

Sonic Team: Be Safe.

MTT No. 047 / Metaphysica

anonradio, electro, movement through thought, music, radio // 2018-01-19

MTT047 Spectrogram

Electro this week. A few recent purchases, a few old favorites. And Metaphysica at -6%. Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Sonar Base / II
  2. Silicon Scally / Chrome Introduction
  3. Silicon Scally / Coast 2 Coast
  4. AS1 / Tranquil
  5. Scape One / Fermata
  6. AS1 / Wireless State of Mind
  7. Redshape / Blink
  8. Mat Carter / Venting Steam
  9. DJ K-1 / Metaphysica
  10. Pollon / Lonely Planet
  11. Mas 2008 / World's Passing By
  12. Jon Convex / Vacuum States
  13. Silicon Scally / The Silent Years
  14. ADJ / Deeptro

I picked up both Blink and Radar, Vacuum States a few days ago and knew I had to play them. Blink is the best thing I've heard in months, awesome techno-electro. Vacuum States is right there with it, great laid-back stuff.

Lonely Planet, on the Scopex label (made famous by Objekt), is another highlight here. Tresor has recently reissued all three Scopex releases as Tresor 300 Scopex 98/00. I couldn't recommend it enough; some of the best electro of the late '90s. It doesn't appear to be available digitally, which is unfortunate.

Last I'd like to mention Silicon Scally's The Silent Years. I've played all three tracks from it on this show, two this week and one ("Informatics") during MTT010 / According To A Plan. I've played it so much my vinyl copy is starting to wear out. Eventually I'll have to buy the digital release. Fantastic tunes.

MTT No. 045 / Undercurrent

anonradio, breaks, downtempo, electro, movement through thought, music, radio // 2018-01-05

MTT045 Spectrogram

Grab bag show. Electro new & old, breaks (or downtempo?), a little acid. Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. London Modular Alliance / DeOrbit_118
  2. Nullptr / Sclera
  3. Datawave / Nebulos
  4. Electronic Corporation / ...Something Better Than Man?
  5. Dark Vektor / 8
  6. Electronic Corporation / 1984
  7. London Modular Alliance / Out Of Sync
  8. Anthony Rother / Justitia
  9. The Infiltrator / Thought 1
  10. MK2 / Burial Mix (RYU Instrumental Mix)
  11. Voigt Kampff / 6:15
  12. Eggfooyoung / Gloves
  13. Nukubus / People Move On
  14. DMX Krew / Synchrotron Blue
  15. Vertical67 / Distortion
  16. Electronic Corporation / Dark Characters
  17. LektroiD / Darktones
  18. Darxid / Flashback

Burial Mix (RYU Instrumental) is an odd piece I found in a used bin. RYU is DJ Hide, DJ Krush, and DJ Sak. It's played in this mix at 45 RPM (it's meant to be played at 33). I think it works well at that speed.

Three tracks by Electronic Corporation are featured. EC is Ive Müller and René Kirchner, who are probably better known as MAS 2008. Electronic Corporation is also the name of their record label. All three tracks included in this mix are from their album Construction Deconstruction, which I love.

Some good tracks this week.
