MTT No. 040 / Steady Creep

ambient, anonradio, electro, hiphop, idm, movement through thought, music, radio, vaporwave // 2017-12-01

MTT040 Spectrogram

Slow IDM & Electro to close out November 2017. Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Access To Arasaka / Caph
  2. Bitstream / Pylon
  3. Dexterous Numerics / Absent Friends
  4. Ghostwerk / When I Creep
  5. Subaeris / ゴースト発生
  6. MANASYt / Apathetics
  7. Chris Randall / Oblique
  8. Headset ft. Subtitle / Breath Contrails
  9. Wayne & Nick / Slev (Ghostwerk Remix)
  10. While / Rail
  11. Mike Kidd / Bilocation
  12. DPO / Endospore
  13. DPO / Isolated Extermination
  14. Being / Tide One Two Three
  15. Porn Darstellar / Dans Le Satin Blanc

Spacesettings by Headset is outstanding. A weird IDM / Hip-Hop / Jazz hybrid album... The closest comparison I can think of is Arrhythmia by Antipop Consortium. The whole album is as good as Breath Contrails.

I'm sad to say I treated Tides by Being (AKA The Wee DJs, AKA Dave Paton) pretty badly here. It's an amazing '90s IDM (or maybe Ambient?) album and deserves better than being filler between DPO and the goofy (but also awesome) Nights In White Satin cover by Porn Darstellar.

Last, I'll highlight Shadow Culture by Ghostwerk. Ghostwerk has been putting out awesome (and weird) tunes for about five years now; Shadow Culture marks his first release on a "major" label (in this case the excellent Detroit Underground). I've been waiting for this album for two years, and it doesn't disappoint.

Finally: shoutout to ellen_page. I also dream of future trackers.

MTT No. 023 / Our Bass Is Low

  9. MC Shy D / It's Just My Caddy (Vocal)

  16. Jonski ft. Jock-D / Get Up
  17. Maggotron / The Bass That Ate Miami (Soundchasers & Hydraulix Remix)
  18. Danny D & DJ Wiz / Get On Up and Dance (Remix)

Proper Miami Bass, some car audio bass CDs, and one new(ish) Hydraulix / Soundchasers production.

Every record, disc and file here is gold. If I could only keep one, deserted island style, it'd be Cut It Up Def (Miami Bass Jams) (20th Anniversary Special Edition). Such an amazing collection. Party Time, Feel The Bass, DJ Wars, Shake The Joint...

It's Tronix: Logical Aggression tradition (and also my personal tradition) to save the Miami Bass music for the hot weather in August. This is the first installment; expect more.

MTT No. 020 / A Million Freaks

anonradio, electro, hiphop, movement through thought, music, radio // 2017-07-14

MTT020 Spectrogram

Somewhat messily mixed west-coast electro this week.

There's quite a bit of grunting and moaning in this recording, and what sounds like sampled porn dialog in one song, so be advised this one probably isn't safe for the kids.

Right-click save-as here or on the spectrogram above to download the mix from aNONradio's archives.

  1. Kraftwerk / Tour De France
  2. World Class Wreckin' Cru / Juice (Instrumental)
  3. World Class Wreckin' Cru / Surgery
  4. Egyptian Lover / Dance Floor
  5. Uncle Jamm's Army / Yes, Yes, Yes (Instrumental)
  6. Jamie Jupitor / Computer Power
  7. The Unknown DJ / Basstronic
  8. The Knights of the Turntables / We Are The Knights
  9. Rodney-O / These Are My Beats (Re-Mix), Dubb Beats
  10. The Unknown DJ / 808 Beats (Club Mix)
  11. NWA / Panic Zone
  12. Professor X / Statix (Instrumental)
  13. The Arabian Prince & The Sheiks / Situation Hot
  14. Dynamik Bass System / Arabian Dreams
  15. Egyptian Lover / Party
  16. Egyptian Lover / Egypt, Egypt

A lot of Egyptian Lover and Arabian Prince in this one.

Dynamik Bass System's Arabian Dreams deserves special mention. Awesome tune on an excellent record. Maybe a little out of place in this mix (German, and from '98), but on-theme I think. Link in this paragraph goes to the Robotmachine Bandcamp page, where you can check out the release.

And since I'm linking Bandcamp: His Egyptness has a Bandcamp page. Saving that for later, when I have space in my music budget.

MTT No. 016 / Time Slowed

anonradio, breaks, dub, hiphop, illbeint, movement through thought, music, radio // 2017-06-16

Played some downtempo breakbeat-y stuff this week. Unfortunately there appears to have been a problem with the aNONradio archives that prevented the show from being saved. The only record of that hour, then, is a tracklist and some memories.

  1. Meat Beat Manifesto / Set Your Receivers
  2. DJ Food / Spiral Dub
  3. Bandulu / Bill's Gate
  4. Mellow-D / Cotton Wool
  5. Ian O'Brien / Homeless
  6. Michna / Believe In It
  7. Funky Technicians / Ninja (Essence Of Time Remix)
  8. Push Button Objects / Striffle
  9. Meat Beat Manifesto / United Nations (E.T.C.)
  10. Scorn / Night Tide
  11. Small Fish With Spine / 15 Levels Of The Empire State
  12. Necros / River Boat
  13. Push Button Objects / Maercs
  14. Secret Frequency Crew / Gold
  15. Dr. Octagon / No Awareness
  16. Meat Beat Manifesto / Future Worlds

A low-key selection. I spent the last week listening to Subliminal Sandwitch by MBM and Evanescence by Scorn, which may explain this. That and general tiredness.
